The SoundFynd team consists of 10 individuals based accross the United States, concentrated in Washington, D.C. and New York City. At SoundFynd, we have no corporate ownership or backing, and as such we’re self funded. We work together to make the Instagram, Tik-Tok, and YouTube posts, as well as produce all of our own videos, events, and merchandise. Our approach to media and event production is rooted in community-building, and inspired by legacy and new-media groups like The Village Voice, No Bells, The Source, Vibe, Montreality, Kids Take Over, That Good Sh*t, The Fader, Pigeons and Planes, Lyrical Lemonade, Pitchfork, and Nina Protocol. We are also indebted to the rich history of College Radio and Zine culture. Everything we do is in line with our goals of not sensationalizing music culture and helping people discover new sounds. We aim to uplift LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and working-class artists, and shine a light on the business practices and labor issues in the music industry, and magnify cutting-edge music in the process.
Tal Kamara (they/he) is the Founder and Editor-In-Chief of SoundFynd. Tal a writer from Teaneck, NJ, currently based in Washington DC, where they are a senior at George Washington University. Tal has been managing the @SoundFynd account since 2018, but disabled it for 3 years because of health issues. In 2024 SoundFynd was revived and re-branded, and the team was brought in. Tal loves alt-rock, jungle, 90’s hip-hop. and punk music, and is passionate about Climate Change, Decolonization, Labour, and LGBTQ+ issues.
Cameron Riley (he/him) is the Lead Graphic Designer and Creative Director of SoundFynd. Cam is a visual artist and designer from Raleigh North Carolina now based in Washington DC studying graphic design at American University. He uses a mixed media approach prioritizing movement and texture. He makes all the @soundfynd formats.
Jocedotcom is the Community Lead for SoundFynd, but she does a little bit of everything. Joce helps plan events and logistics, make posts, and manage schedules, in addition to being a journalist and interviewer. She is an American University Alumni based in Brooklyn, New York, and she loves posting online, rooftop conversations, and being a classic music fangirl/groupie.
Kayla Wallace (she/her) is a Journalist and Interviewer for SoundFynd. She graduated with a Journalism degree from Howard University, and is based in Brooklyn, NYC. Her journey is shaped by a profound passion for music journalism, event curation, photography, and creative direction. She’s the founder of Phases Magazine, which covers unique stories, black bands, creative photography, and multimedia art, building a safe space for people of color in the alternative scene.
Donnie Letterman (he/him) is the Lead Video Editor and Videographer for SoundFynd. He is a filmmaker, videographer, and rapper based in DC & NYC, and he has a Masters in Film from Howard University. Donnie loves artists like Earl Sweatshirt and Navy Blue, and outside of SoundFynd he makes music videos, documentaries, and films.
Adeboye Adeoye (he/him) is the Playlist Lead and a content contributor to SoundFynd. Boye is a chronic playlist curator, a poet, mental math aficionado, and online music discourse veteran. He’s a 21 year old UGA graduate from Atlanta, and he’s based in Georgia.
Liam Mason (any pronouns) is an interviewer, video personality and writing contributor to SoundFynd. Liam integrates political analysis into his music coverage, and loves Neo Soul, Neo Expressionism, No Wave, and chicken adobo. Makes noise not content via Wesleyan Uni/Arlington VA.
Safa Elzbir (she/her) is a DMV-bred, Brooklyn-based singer and curator. With an affinity for R&B and a sharp ear across genres, she brings her love for storytelling and discovery to SoundFynd’s TikTok, spotlighting the artists and sounds shaping today’s music culture. Since 2016, she’s been curating monthly playlists that blend emerging voices with timeless favorites, reflecting her deep appreciation for the evolution of sound and community within music.
Ike Nabuife is the Editor-In-Chief of the SoundFynd Blog. Ike is a writer, DJ, radio host, and journalist based in Columbus, Ohio, where he is a student at Ohio State. Ike does interviews, make feed posts, and edits articles for SoundFynd. He’s passionate about highlighting black artists, neo-soul, alternative hip-hop, punk, and prison abolition/rehabilitation.
Zahara Addo-Davis (she/her) is a multidisciplinary visual artist and music producer from Middletown, New York, and she’s now based in Detroit, Michigan. Zahara edits videos for SoundFynd.
